Project Duration: 2022-2025
Client: Mekorot National Water Company
Project Manager: Yossi Haber
The Western Galilee Water Desalination Project, involves extensive infrastructure work to connect the Sharga reservoir in the Acre region to Highway 781 in the Kiryat Ata area.
The project’s work alignment spans approximately 560 meters, encompassing tunneling operations and road crossings through integrated pipe jacking beneath major highways. This complex undertaking involves the construction of four jacking shafts and four receiving shafts, ensuring seamless underground infrastructure deployment while minimizing disruption to surface traffic and urban activity.
By leveraging advanced geotechnical engineering techniques, the project guarantees structural integrity, safety, and efficiency, meeting the highest industry standards for underground construction.
The project includes the supply and underground installation of 80-inch steel pipes over a distance of 21 kilometers for gravity-fed water transportation.
The pipeline installation is divided into four sections, as follows:
Section 1: Connecting the Sharga reservoir to the Kiryat Ata pools – Segment A, 80-inch diameter, approximately 8.6 km in length.
Section 2: Connecting the Sharga reservoir to the Kiryat Ata pools – Segment B, 80-inch diameter, approximately 7.2 km in length.
Section 3: Connecting to the Shfar’am pipeline – Segment C, 80-inch diameter, approximately 3.5 km in length.
Section 4: Overflow pipeline from the Sharga reservoir, 80-inch diameter, approximately 1.4 km in length.
The project also involves tunneling work to cross roads by pushing pipes underground.
We contribute our professional experience to this crucial national infrastructure project in Israel, which will provide a stable water supply to the rapidly growing Kiryat Ata area. This challenge provides us with an opportunity to support the region’s growth and development while managing a tight timeline and ensuring the work is carried out by a skilled and professional team.
Project by the Numbers:
